Oh gosh! What a disappointing match! Will they ever score a goal? Paul has been watching the game for about an hour but he's nearly dropped off. What has come over his favourite team which hate always seemed invincible? With a play like that they are going to lose the match. He pushes the button and the screen goes dark. Paul, who used 5 to be a regular 'Manchester United' supporter, gave up going to football matches some years ago.
Since the day Greta came into his life Paul has had no time to feel lonely. After their unforgettable trip by Eurostar train to Paris Paul and Greta spend every weekend together. Greta is such a wonder! Whenever Paul sees her, his spirits rise. But the thine-1 he loves most about Greta is that you don't have to make yourself out to be a big man. She just takes you as you are, with all your bad points as well as good. And what a good traveling companion she is! With Greta at his side Paul could go anywhere!
It's Saturday, 2 p.m. Paul's feeling restless and a bit nervous. It’s natural. After all today is his first blind date. Tonight he is meeting Greta. Hans’s cousin, "a beautiful stranger" as he calls her to himself. Greta comes from Bonn but now she's living in Bristol with a British family. She is an au pair girl. She does light work in the house and helps with the children n return for learning English. Greta would like to work in Britain after graduation.
Friday morning. The alarm clock goes off at 7. Paul usually gets up easily but not this time. It's not simple to wake up so early if you go to bed at 3 in the morning. He can hardly open his eyes. Half an hour passes before Paul 5 finally makes himself get up. He is still sleepy. He slowly gets dressed and looks out the window. It's drizzling and the sidewalk is wet.
The Simons are a large family. There are four generations of Simons alive today. The oldest person in Paul's family is his grandfather, Mr. Frank Simon. He is 78 and he is still full of life and energy. His wife, Mrs. Olive Simon is 5 years younger than him. She is very practical but, as Paul thinks, a bit stingy. David and Karen Clark are Paul's uncle and aunt. Karen Clark's 48 years old, a good-looking 48, who looks 10 years younger than she is.
