One famous cookery writer once noticed that the fate of a nation depends on how they’re eating. Probably, there is some exaggeration in these words, but it goes without saying that eating plays a very important role in our lives.
National food is much a part of a culture as language or literature. So, to my mind, every nation should keep to their national cooking closely and be proud of it.
Meanwhile, lots of people don’t take eating seriously because they consider it unimportant. But eating the proper products is the main key to stay healthy. For example, meat helps us to have a strong and healthy body. So do eggs and fish. Dairy builds strong teeth and bones by providing calcium. As for fruit and vegetables, they help us to have healthy gums and good eyesight. Bread and cereal give us energy by providing protein, iron and several vitamins. A lot of modern diets inform us that if we want to loose extra kilos and be in good condition, eating fats and sugar should be out of the question. But these products are fast sources of energy. So we see that there are 5 basic types of food a person should eat to stay strong, healthy and energetic.
All the products that have been described are natural and useful for us and they make delicious and favourable dishes. There is a great variety of complex recipes using these ingredients, so everybody can find something to his taste among them.
As for me, I take eating quite seriously. But being a student and spending a lot of time at University I can’t avoid eating unhealthy kinds of food. Sometimes I take a snack from home – a sandwich, a drink and some fruit, but not as a habit. Between my lectures I have several tea - breaks. My friends and I go to the canteen and have hot tea there. Tea is a natural product; it helps our bodies to work and contains no calories. In view of the fact that we’re all girls and we are worried about our figures, it’s quite important that tea is a calorie free combination, so it’s an ideal drink for us.
To sum it up, eating is an essential part of our life. And I think food and cooking should be paid much attention to.
